Voting Time! Yes, that's me on the ballot.
Just fill in the little circle. Also, introducing VotingAct.
The photo below is of the actual ballot sent to me and yes, that’s my name on the ballot. I just voted for myself so I should have at least one vote when the tallies are done. Three if Mom and Dad pull through.
Why is there no party affiliation by my name even though I’m a Conservative Republican? Because I’m running unaffiliated with any party this time. The broader question is why I did that. In short, it took me so long to decide to run that I had missed some deadlines to run with the Republican party, and running as unaffiliated was the next best option.
Some people have accused me of hiding my party affiliation like I’m trying to deceive the public. That is not the case. I am not the Republican nominee so I didn’t feel it would be ethical to lead with that.
Anyway, on to more fun matters…
I’ve begun developing an app which I’m calling VotingAct. As a reminder, I’m creating the app so that you can tell me how to vote on bills. I will vote with the majority.
I had a false start and hired a guy online to create the app who resides on the East Coast. That did not work out, and I spent a fair amount of money on it before pulling the plug. I will chalk that up to a learning experience.
Serendipitously, a gentleman who attends church with my parents teaches app development for a local college and my Dad connected us. He lined me up with a couple of new hungry graduates to help build the project and we’re in the production process. We have a basic framework that we’re putting together. The app will be secure and encrypted. The votes and voter rolls will be public but anonymized. Details will follow soon as to how we will do that.
After the first failed attempt at the app, I feel much better about it this time and the foundations for the app will be better and cost less money in the long run.
Here’s my latest campaign video which I’ve been advertising on Facebook. It has tens of thousands of views and quite a few comments. Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet and please share this post with people.
You may ask why I’m building the voting app at all when the probability is high that the incumbent will win the race. It is because I’m not stopping here and if I don’t win this time I plan on challenging the holder of the seat as a Republican next time. I also plan on recruiting others to run on the same platform. We’ll design the app so that pretty much any public office will be covered and constituents who belong to those areas can use the app to direct their elected officials. Having a downloadable working app will help spread my message.
If you live in my district, please vote for me. If you don’t live in my district, please help me share my message. I don’t think the people are represented by their government. We can make a change we just have to come together to do that.
